What

Should we take challenges mindfully even though we clearly know it will be a rough journey? Today at work, I was checking the task pipeline to take a new task (I'm a developer and take tasks I'd like to do within my team). I realized there was a rather difficult one which requires the whole team's effort. It will surely be a challenge for any teammate who takes it regardless the experience one has. So far I have already worked in my team and scope for about a year and a half. I had some experience doing refactoring and creating new features, however this task is next level. nevertheless, I expressed my interests in doing this task, with discussion with other teammates of course. Ideally, we will give it a kick-start in two weeks.

Why

There were a few reasons/factors in my head when I did it.

  • I wanted to have a challenge, honestly I kinda need one.
  • Solving problems which have a good grind in my brain gives me the feeling of achievement
  • I'm interested in how the task will be done, e.g. we will design a new system of collaboration and I'd like to stretch my skills implement such system
  • Will definitely get good experience and also a good project for myself in the future

These are more or less the thoughts, but deep down in my head, I believe that it's time to get better in my work and I can't do it without getting crashed by a bad-ass project. Gonna have to reincarnate from ash and tears, probably :p
